Loving Like Jesus

Every time you have prayed or given, every time you have mentioned Greenhouse to another person is a gift to us. Thank you for being a Greenhouse Builder.

We continue to emphasize building a healthy community at Greenhouse. In a broad Christian fellowship like ours, we hope that the manifest love we show one another will cause people to take note that we are followers of Jesus Christ.

Key in this process is a volunteer team of community care coordinators (CCC’s) who help new families get acclimated and connected, provide opportunities for fellowship, and support families facing difficulties. Please pray for our CCC’s this month. Pray that the community at Greenhouse consistently reflects the steadfast love of God.

Allow Jesus’ words in John 15 to shape and inform your understanding of the love of God. I recommend reading these verses slowly and prayerfully several times.

John 15:9-15 (NIV)

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you.

Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love.

I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.

Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

As you pray these words from John 15, allow Christ’s sacrifice to add gravitas to his admonition for his disciples, for us, and for the Greenhouse community to “Love each other.” Pay attention to how the Holy Spirit may prompt you to act as you pray, seeing how love and action are linked in this passage.
